Meta M (Kerstetter) Mauck was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 90 years of life. She passed away peacefully resting next to her loving husband on December 21, 2023.
Born on July 13, 1933, in Liverpool, PA, she was the daughter of the late William M. Kerstetter and Christianna (Heckard) Kerstetter.
On Christmas Day in 1954, Meta married the love of her life, Jay A. Mauck, embarking on a journey that spanned a remarkable 69 years. And if you were fortunate enough to witness their love, you know they earned each one of them.
Meta was a proud graduate of Selinsgrove High School, class of 1950. Throughout her life, she determinedly balanced various roles, including switchboard operator, seamstress at various sewing factories, and work at a circuit assembly plant in the Williamsport area. Yet, it was in her roles as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that Meta truly shone.
Her family was the center of her world, including her loving husband, Jay, and their four children: Christianna (the late Michael) Meixel, William (Debra) Mauck, Fred (Kathy) Mauck, and Madalene (David) Spangler. She was a cherished grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren.
Meta's zest for life extended beyond the walls of her home to the great Pennsylvania wilds. She had a passion for camping and was a gracious host at several state parks, creating meaningful and plentiful memories with loved ones around the campfire. Even the chipmunks were drawn to her. Fearless and comfortable, sitting on her knee for peanuts, it was a testament to her patient and gentle soul.
In addition to her love for camping, Meta found joy in sewing, crocheting, and her faith. She was a dedicated member of the Larryville United Methodist Church, where her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many.
A private service, officiated by Kenneth Geisewite, will be held for the family to celebrate Meta's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
To say we will miss Meta is an understatement, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always feel her presence in our hearts.
