Helen L. (Slaterbeck) Bixel, 92, widow of John J. Bixel, of 4401 Pine Mountain Rd., Jersey Shore, PA, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Williamsport Home, Williamsport, PA.
Born in Lock Haven, PA on February 17, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lena (Fidler) Slaterbeck.
She was a graduate of the former Sugar Valley High School and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Loganton. PA.
Helen was employed by Sylvania for many years however the majority of her years she enjoyed being a homemaker to her husband and children.
John and Helen were wed on September 3, 1960 and shared over 50 years of marriage together before John passed away in 2011.
She was an extremely giving person of her time and talents who enjoyed cooking family meals, mowing grass and traveling with her husband, however her greatest joy was spending time with her children who were her best friends.
Along with her husband she was predeceased by a brother Nevin Lamey, two sisters Leotta Schrack and Anna Mae Witherite, brother in law Robert Bixel and sister in law Phyllis Bixel.
She is survived by a daughter Lisa D. Karney (Edward) of Jersey Shore, PA a son Michael J. Bixel of Jersey Shore, PA three sisters, Joann Cole of Virginia, Sandy (Vaughn) Wagner of Loganton and Diane Slaterbeck of Williamsport, PA a grandson, a great granddaughter, a step granddaughter and will be missed by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews .
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Final Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Loganton, PA. If desired memorials may be made in Helen’s name to the Nippenose Valley Volunteer Fire Co., Station #6, 4453 Pine Mountain Rd., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
