William Rodney Andrews
With great sadness we must announce the passing of William Rodney Andrews, who departed this life on March 22nd, 2026. William went by several names depending on who was speaking to him. Many, including his wife and family, called him Rod, others called him Bill, but to his two daughters, he was simply Dad.
Born of Evan Andrews and Martha Heltman Andrews, Rod spent most of his life tending to the family farm in Loganton, first as a dairy farm and later raising beef cattle. He graduated from Sugar Valley High School in 1969. He briefly enlisted in the National Guard but returned home due to his father suffering from illness. As well as his farm life, Rod also worked for Piper, and later for R.W. Bird Trucking out of Pleasant Gap, driving tractor-trailer. After retirement, he spent most of his time on the farm. Later in life, he used much of his time driving his 4-wheeler with his faithful dog, Chloe.
Rod was a well-loved member of the Loganton community. While he wasn’t often a man of many words, he loved joking and teasing, and he was the kind of neighbor who would lend a hand when someone needed help. Rod also cared for an abundance of animals such as his cows, dogs and many cats throughout his life. Generosity was one of his most abundant traits, and he would go out of his way for other people. He was a talented welder, excelled in working with his hands, and for many years, he kept the old farm machinery running.
Sugar Valley will not be quite the same without Rod’s presence. He will be remembered for his laugh, his playful nature, and his kindness—even his pimple-popping escapades with his nephew. From his exasperated expletives when the cows escaped the farm to his colorful naming of pets, Rod always found a way to bring humor and amusement to everyday life.
As well as his parents, Rod was preceded in death by his stillborn son, his brother Kenneth Andrews, and Kenneth’s daughter Renee.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Andrews; his daughters, Jennie (David) and Hayley; his sister, Ann; and his grandchildren, Emylie, Kaden, Titus, Gabriel William, Jeremiah, Vanessa, and Ariella. He is also survived by his nephews, Scott, Bobby, and Clayton; his nieces, Athy, Christine, Colleen, Courtney, and Kate; as well as cousins and many dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM, at Mountain View Alliance Church 1515 Cemetery St., Jersey Shore, PA. A visitation will be held in the church one hour prior to the service. Following the service a luncheon will be held in the church. Final Interment will be held at 1:00 PM in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rosecrans, PA.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Wayne P Urbine Funeral Home, Inc., 95 East Main St., Loganton, PA.
